When I became pregnant with my oldest I was beyond excited but so nervous at the same time. Over the course of 9 months I gained over 100 pounds and had high blood pressure. I was due March 14, 2014. On March 6th I went in for my weekly check up. The doctor did all the normal check up but was not happy how my blood pressure kept going up. He told me that I was going to be induced the following day because it he was. I longer worries about the baby but was worried about my health. I went home and packed. The next day March 7th I went to the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. They hooked me up to all the fun monitors and the waiting began. By 8:30 in the morning they started Pitocin because my body was already contracting. Unfortunately by 12:30 I was only dilated to 3 and very little progress. At 6:15 that evening I was dilated to 6. The doctor decided to break my water to see if that would help speed things up. Instantly I started contracting every 3 minutes for 1 minute. At 5:30 the next morning I was dilated to a 8 and completely exhausted. I asked for an epidural at that point because I needed to get some sleep if I was going to push the baby out. By 11:30 I was finally at 10 and could start pushing. I pushed for 3 hours before my body decided it was done. I looked at my mom and told her that I didn't feel good. At that point I blacked out and don't remember much. My mom says I went completely white and my eyes rolled back and I went limp. She said my heart stopped and the nurse had to jump on the bed and start giving me chest compressions. The doctor immediately took me back and preformed an emergency c-section. The next thing that I can remember is the coming to and hearing my son cry for the first time. The doctor later told me that I came back the second they cut the umbilical cord. He also said that my blood pressure had spiked when I blacked out causing my heart to stop. He said that my son was slowly killing me from the inside. Also he said that he felt horrible because my pelvic bone was tilted and that I would never be able to have a baby naturally unless the baby was less then 6 pounds. My son was born 8 pounds 7 oz 22 inches long. I am super grateful to have the support team and doctor that I did . My son is now three and a bundle of energy. I was blessed earlier this year with my second son and thankful that everything went smoothly this time around and weigh g 8 pounds 3 oz 21.25 inches long. I wish I could naturally deliver my boys but thankful for modern medicine that allowed me to be here today raisin my sons.
